Horfield Methodist Playgroup
As your child nears 2½ years of age, you may decide that he/she needs to be slightly more independent and needs more challenging activities than is provided for in Little Fishes. Our playgroup caters for 2½ (limited availablility) - 4+ year olds and offers a caring, friendly, child-centred provision for pre-school children. Adults leave the children at the playgroup for the duration of the session, although there is a rota for parents to stay to help maybe twice a term. It meets in the large downstairs hall in the same building as Little Fishes and is run by Cherry Arnal and Rachel Canning.
Children
aged 2½ - 3 have to pay £5.50 per morning for playgroup however, once
they reach the age of 3 you are able to use the Early Years vouchers
provided by the government which entitles a child to a certain number of
hours' free childcare a day.
For those of you with a toddler and a slightly older child, having a toddler group and playgroup on the same premises works well. Playgroup starts at 9am which then gives an hour to perhaps get some shopping done with your toddler or perhaps go to the park - until the toddler group starts at 10am. After Little Fishes finishes (11.30am - ish!) you are very welcome to stay (and help tidy up?!) in the toddler room with us until just before it's time for playgroup to finish (12 noon) or you might like to make your way downstairs where there are likely to be other carers waiting who are in the same situation with a child in both groups.
